My name is Austin Roorda, and I make video games!

Games and gaming have always been a huge part of my life ever since I can remember. Having grown up playing games with my brother, cousins and friends – I found myself spending more and more time learning about the history of games and their development.

Now, I’ve developed that passion for games into a career. Be it working in Montreal with a team of talented developers on the next hit mobile game, or working with my own team on our breakout VR Project – there’s always something to be done, a game to be made and a project to manage!

I go by many names – Producer, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Team Lead. Whatever you call me, I’m the person who will keep the team organized and on track to hit their next milestone and content delivery. Let’s create something awesome together!

Production Support - Rockstar San Diego

Post graduation, I was fortunate to be hired by the team at Rockstar Games to work as Production Support in their San Diego studio. While I can’t go into detail about the projects I’m working on, I can say that I’m beyond excited to help the team create awesome games!

Pay attention to official Rockstar social media channels for updates on our projects, announcements and more!

Project Management Intern - Behaviour Interactive

During my Fall Semester of my Junior Year when I studied abroad in Montreal, I was fortunate enough to be offered an Internship as a Project Manager at Behaviour Interactive. I worked with the development team on the recently announced mobile game Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall. I worked directly under the VP of Mobile Publishing as well as the game’s producer to manage the project and assist in content deliveries to HBO. Check out my Blog Post where I go more in depth about my responsibilities and experience at the company!

Champlain College - BS in Game Production Management

I enrolled to Champlain way back in 2016 – and I have been studying as a Game Producer and Project Manager ever since! I have worked on over 10 separate projects during my 4 years at the college, and have worked on projects both inside and outside of classroom as a Producer, Project Manager and Scrum Master. With a passion and drive to create unique and engaging games, I motivate and empower the teams I work on so they can make the magic happen!

Champlain College Emergent Media Center

I was hired by the Emergent Media Center (EMC) during January of 2019 and am currently employed there.  I was brought on as a Producer / Project manager for the Alternative Controller Team – and  have been responsible for working with the team of 5 other developers to create two separate alternate controller experiences. Alternative controllers defy the conventions of what we believe a controller to be, and how we interact with media. We work to create unique games using emerging technology that are accessible to all.
